Sure, Disenchantment doesn’t roll off the tongue quite like The Simpsons or Futurama but what’s in a name if the show is just as good as its forebearers? Matt Groening, creator of the aforementioned shows, teased Disenchantment with his familiar animation style. Groening has moved to Netflix instead of staying with FOX like his prior productions. They did cancel Futurama only for it to be revived by Comedy Central and cancelled again, so that may in part be the reason Groening has pushed for a new TV network entirely. Plus, Netflix doesn’t seem too shy about throwing money around these days.
Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) will be voicing the central character, Bean, a no-nonsense princess. Her two sidekicks are Nat Faxon as Elfo, who looks suspiciously like an elf-version of Bart Simpson, and Eric Andre as Luci, a demon.
Disenchantment is coming to Netflix on August 17th.
