Remember, Remember! The 5th of November
It’s getting close to the end of the year, but that means nothing in TV Land with these five new shows airing next month which we can’t wait to sink our teeth into (sorry, Halloween was last month). Whether you’re after a Back to The Future parody or a risque 50’s stand-up comedy, we’ve got you covered.
1. Future Man – 14 November 2017
I’ll throw down for Future Man which could be interesting. I finally saw a proper trailer for it and to put it simply, it looks to be a more bombastic Back to the Future (see if you can spot the direct reference). Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have thrown their weight behind this one, and they made Preacher, which has some really great moments, so it has “some” promise.
2. Runaways – 21 November 2017
See here and here for why I wanted this show so badly. That’s a lot of expectation for a superhero show, but if they pull it off, people will be talking. Okay, it might not be the next Buffy The Vampire Slayer, even with James Marsters making an appearance. But nail that teen banter and it could rival DC’s current TV lineup. Two Hulu original shows are my picks, well that was unexpected!
3. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – 29 November 2017
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel look like it’s going to be right up my alley, set in New York in the 50’s, concerning housewives, comedians, a historical drama-comedy of the best kind. Though the pilot was released in March, the rest of the series is following this November, and I’ve been saving myself to do the whole lot at once.
4. Sick Note – 7 November 2017
But if we want to get into shows that sound like they were made for me, I might need to mention that Sick Note is coming this November too. Starring Rupert Grint, Nick Frost, and somehow also Lindsay Lohan, Sick Note is a new British comedy about a man wrongly diagnosed with a fatal illness who revels in a life of being pitied. I can’t wait to tear it apart!
5. SMILF – 5 November 2017
I’ve also got my eyes on SMILF, not because I’ve heard much about it but because anything inspired by a short film good enough to win an award at the Sundance Film Festival earns some interest from me. I also feel like its probably going to be really inappropriate and a little bit gross which I’m sorry to say is very appealing to me!
